A novel nasal spray formulation utilizing Glyhyalurosomes to deliver Haridra Khanda, an ayurvedic preparation, for effective treatment of allergic rhinitis. Combines natural anti-allergic and hydrating ingredients for enhanced mucosal protection and symptom relief.

Overview

The Haridra Khanda-loaded Glyhyalurosome nasal spray is an innovative solution for treating allergic rhinitis. This formulation leverages Glyhyalurosomes—lipid-based vesicles combining phospholipids, hyaluronic acid, glycerol, and PEG400—to encapsulate and deliver the active compounds of Haridra Khanda, a traditional ayurvedic polyherbal remedy. Known for its anti-allergic properties, Haridra Khanda in this new delivery form promises enhanced mucosal protection, hydration, and symptom relief for rhinitis sufferers.

Technical specifications

Glyhyalurosomes are designed to provide a protective bilayer encapsulating both hydrophobic (curcuminoids) and hydrophilic components of Haridra Khanda. The key components include:

  • Phospholipids: Form protective bilayers.
  • Hyaluronic acid: Provides lubrication and hydration, improving mucociliary clearance.
  • Glycerol: Offers hydrating and mucosal protection.
  • PEG400: Enhances solubility and stability. These components work synergistically to deliver the anti-inflammatory and anti-histaminic effects of Haridra Khanda directly to the nasal cavity, offering a potentially safer, non-sedating alternative that is easy to administer.
Technology readiness level

This technology is currently at TRL 4, indicating that it has been validated in a laboratory environment. Future validation steps include toxicity studies, optimization of Glyhyalurosomes, and pharmacological testing in animal models. The formulation's performance will be characterized through various assays to ensure efficacy and safety.
