HemoPrint is an innovative platform for scalable, low-cost RNA profiling from self-collected capillary blood. It facilitates precise monitoring of blood RNA signatures to predict micronutrient levels and health states, offering significant potential for personalized health management.
HemoPrint is a cutting-edge platform developed at Ghent University, designed for low-cost, scalable RNA profiling from self-collected capillary blood. This innovative solution allows individuals to use a simple finger prick to collect a minute blood sample, which can be easily shipped to a central lab for analysis. HemoPrint is particularly valuable for longitudinal health monitoring, as it can reveal shifts in blood RNA signatures associated with micronutrient levels, offering a personalized approach to health management.
HemoPrint is currently at Technology Readiness Level 5. The platform is operational, and future validation will focus on profiling donors with known micronutrient levels to establish predictive models for health states, further enhancing its utility in personalized health diagnostics.
Ghent University is a comprehensive public research university with a strong applied research and innovation culture. Industry collaborates through the Tech Lane Ghent Science Park, where corporate R&D, public research institutes and UGent labs are co‑located, and via a second science park in Ostend. Integration with Ghent University Hospital enables clinical translation and access to patient care environments. Research is backed by competitive European programmes such as Horizon Europe and the ERC, alongside national and regional support from FWO and VLAIO. UGent’s TechTransfer office, working with an Industrial Liaison Network and a central EU funding team, supports IP, licensing, spin‑offs and contract research to accelerate partnerships.
