Validated laboratory gut model platform that evaluates how plant-based fermentation products impact gut microbial composition and metabolic activity, generating insights into postbiotic health benefits for food and nutrition industry partners.
This solution offers a scientifically validated in vitro laboratory gut model platform for assessing the postbiotic potential of plant-based fermentation products. Postbiotics are bioactive compounds produced by microorganisms that confer health benefits on the host, even after the microbes themselves are no longer present. By simulating the conditions of the human gut, this platform enables partners in the food, beverage, and nutrition industries to evaluate whether their fermentation-derived products can positively influence gut microbial composition and activity, supporting product development and health claim substantiation.
Validated gut model platform:
Analytical capabilities:
Research expertise:
The underlying gut model platform and 'omics methodologies are well established and have been validated through prior research. The proposed project follows a defined workflow: initial batch culture screening, followed by continuous flow model assessment of the most promising candidate, and comprehensive functionality testing using microbiomics and metabolomics. The project is estimated to take approximately seven months to complete. The approach is ready to be applied to specific plant-based fermentation products supplied by industry partners.
