Discover advanced methods to improve EPDM adhesive processing by replacing talc with more efficient and eco-friendly solutions. Explore spray coatings, cold plasma treatments, and innovative agents to prevent adhesion without compromising quality.

Overview

This innovative solution focuses on enhancing the processing of EPDM adhesives by eliminating the need for talc, which traditionally prevents adhesion but can leave undesirable residues. By introducing alternative methods such as eco-friendly spray coatings, cold plasma treatments, and novel anti-tack agents, this approach aims to maintain the desired adhesive properties while minimizing environmental impact and improving production efficiency.

Technical specifications

Key features:

  • Eco-friendly spray coatings: Applied to molds or sample surfaces to facilitate easy demolding, effectively replacing talc and reducing residue.
  • Cold plasma treatments: Temporary hydrophobic surface coatings that prevent self-adhesion and can be implemented commercially.
  • Innovative anti-tack agents: These agents migrate to the surface of the material to prevent adhesion to molds or between parts, offering a more sustainable and easily removable alternative to talc.

These techniques are supported by a multidisciplinary team with expertise in materials science, leveraging mechanical, thermal, and spectroscopic testing capabilities to ensure optimal performance.

Technology readiness level

This technology is at TRL 5, indicating that it has been validated in a relevant environment. Further development and testing are ongoing to refine these methods for commercial application, with a focus on sustainability and efficiency improvements.
