A comprehensive solution combining micronutrient-enriched fertilizers and portable sensing technologies to enhance crop nutritional value and ensure traceability, benefiting both farmers and consumers.

Overview

This innovative solution integrates agronomic interventions with advanced portable nutrient-monitoring technologies to enhance the nutritional quality of crops. By employing micronutrient-enriched fertilizers, foliar sprays, biostimulants, and soil amendments, the approach aims to increase nutrient density, vitamins, antioxidants, and mineral bioavailability in staple crops, fruits, and vegetables. Portable sensing technologies, including spectroscopy devices and field kits, allow for rapid, reliable nutrient assessment directly in the field, empowering farmers to verify crop outcomes in real time and ensure traceability. This solution supports sustainable food systems and enhances human health by delivering consistently nutritious produce to markets.

Technical specifications
  • Micronutrient-enriched fertilizers: Enhance nutrient density and bioavailability in crops.
  • Foliar sprays and biostimulants: Improve vitamin and antioxidant levels.
  • Soil amendments: Increase mineral bioavailability.
  • Portable sensing technologies: Include spectroscopy devices and field kits for real-time nutrient assessment.
  • Digital traceability system: Links nutrient data from soil to market to ensure transparency and consumer confidence.
Technology readiness level

This solution is currently at Technology Readiness Level 3. Initial validation through controlled greenhouse trials is planned, followed by diverse on-farm trials to refine application methods and validate nutrient improvements. The project seeks partnerships for trial sites, technical collaboration, and scaling efforts to ensure effective commercialization.
