Brilliant Photonics is developing liquid-cooled horticultural lighting systems designed to reduce the high energy and infrastructure costs associated with vertical farming and controlled environment agriculture. Current LED systems are often expensive, thermally inefficient, and difficult to scale for high-light crops such as strawberries, tomatoes, and peppers.
Our modular lighting platform improves thermal management, serviceability, and heat recovery while enabling higher power density and improved energy efficiency. The proposed research project will develop and evaluate an integrated vertical farming system utilizing liquid-cooled lighting and root-zone thermal management for strawberry production. The project will investigate crop yield, energy consumption, thermal recovery, and system economics while validating next-generation lighting technologies for commercial controlled environment agriculture applications.
