Introducing an interfacial system to improve the biological relevance and predictive power of in vitro wound healing assays by simulating tissue interface conditions and enabling controlled exposure of cells to compounds.
The interfacial system is designed to significantly enhance the biological relevance and predictive power of in vitro wound healing models. By simulating tissue interface conditions and enabling controlled exposure of cells to various compounds, this system offers a more realistic environment for early-stage screening. Its integration into existing models such as reconstructed skin, scratch assays, and epithelial cultures enhances performance without necessitating major protocol changes. This approach effectively addresses limitations of current assays, such as lack of biological realism and predictive value.
Key features:
The system supports better biological readouts by simulating conditions that reflect actual tissue behavior, thus enhancing the predictivity of standard endpoints related to tissue repair.
Currently at Technology Readiness Level (TRL) 4, the interfacial system has undergone validation of basic components and is progressing through further development phases. The project is structured into three phases over 6–12 months, focusing on integration, experimental evaluation, and optimization. This phased approach supports continuous validation and scalability within high-throughput environments.
