Active thermal management for athleticwear

What It Is

BioForge M1L / M1H™ is a tiered, active thermal-management platform for textiles, engineered to control the rate and direction of heat flux through fabric rather than relying on passive insulation or bulk mass. M1L suits moderate-load environments (training, running, layered activewear); M1H targets high-heat-flux, extreme-duty conditions (intense conditioning, hot-weather competition). Applied to athleticwear, it gives brands a genuinely engineered performance claim beyond materials-thickness or wicking alone.

Why It Matters

Heat buildup under athletic apparel is a persistent comfort and performance complaint — from base layers and compression gear to team uniforms. Most "cooling" activewear relies on mesh, wicking fibers, or ventilation panels, all passive airflow strategies that don't actively regulate heat transfer through the fabric itself. M1L/M1H addresses the underlying thermal physics, letting brands differentiate premium lines with active, tunable heat-flux control that conventional textiles can't replicate.

How It Works

M1L/M1H engineers the textile to manage how heat moves through the material, tiered by intended thermal load:

M1L — tuned for moderate environments: base layers, running apparel, everyday training gear prioritizing comfort and breathability.

M1H — tuned for high-output, extreme-duty conditions: heavy-exertion sports, hot-climate competition, and apparel facing the most severe sustained thermal load.

Both tiers actively manage the direction and rate of heat flux across the fabric structure rather than depending on bulk insulation or airflow alone, keeping apparel lightweight while delivering measurable thermal regulation during sustained wear.

Proof to Date

M1L/M1H is a mature BioForge platform already evaluated for adjacent protective-apparel applications (e.g., welding PPE), where its active heat-flux mechanism was assessed as a strong fit for garments requiring engineered thermal performance under sustained heat exposure. Extending the platform to athletic and performance apparel is a natural application of the same mechanism, though dedicated athleticwear-specific testing (temperature-differential measurement during exercise, wearer comfort trials, breathability benchmarking) has not yet been conducted and is the next validation step.

Next Steps

BioForge is seeking a strategic athleticwear or sports-apparel licensing partner to:

Execute an NDA for full technical and textile-integration disclosure.

Conduct joint bench and wear-testing to quantify heat-flux reduction and comfort benefits in representative constructions (compression wear, base layers, team uniforms).

Benchmark performance against existing wicking and ventilated fabric technologies already in market.

Because M1L/M1H is tiered by thermal load rather than tied to one fabric or garment type, it offers partners flexibility to deploy the platform across multiple product tiers — from everyday training lines to premium, extreme-condition performance gear — within a single licensing relationship.
