Ecofriendly metal sulfide nanoformulations and nanocomposites that protect seeds against storage fungi, activate aquaporins for improved germination, and degrade into plant nutrients with zero soil residue. A sustainable alternative where no commercial chemicals are currently recommended.
This solution offers ecofriendly metal sulfide nanoformulations and nanocomposites designed for seed priming and seed storage protection. The technology addresses seed-borne fungal pathogens by disrupting fungal cell wall integrity and inducing cellular leakage, while simultaneously activating aquaporins to support germination. After performing their protective function, the nanomaterials degrade and are taken up by plants as nutrients, leaving zero residue in the soil.
The innovation is particularly relevant for seed storage applications where no commercial chemical treatments are currently recommended, providing a sustainable alternative for the agricultural sector.

Key applications:
The technology is currently at the research and validation stage. The research hypothesis is based on the principle that essential insoluble inorganic materials can be activated at the nano scale to target microbial cell walls while remaining compatible with plant biology. Further validation is needed to confirm efficacy across different seed types, storage conditions, and agricultural environments, as well as to optimize degradation timelines and nutrient uptake pathways.
