A bioactive natural supramolecular liquid formulation with cinnamon flavor designed as a mouthwash to prevent and remove dental biofilms. It utilizes a eutectic molecular network of naturally derived antimicrobial compounds for enhanced oral care.

Overview

The Natural Eutectic Formulation is a bioactive liquid mouthwash developed to prevent and remove dental biofilms, especially in interdental regions. With a natural cinnamon flavor, this formulation combines structural components and bioactive antimicrobial agents into a eutectic molecular network. This results in enhanced stability, solubility, and bioavailability, offering multifunctional capabilities for next-generation oral care. It not only disrupts established dental plaques but also inhibits new biofilm formation, providing a comprehensive solution for oral hygiene.

Technical specifications

Key features:

  • Eutectic Molecular Network: Utilizes naturally derived antimicrobial compounds for improved stability and solubility.
  • Antibiofilm Activity: Demonstrated efficacy against Gram-positive and Gram-negative biofilms, reducing biomass and biofilm thickness.
  • Interdental Cleaning: Designed to reach difficult areas, such as interdental spaces, enhancing plaque control.
  • Bioavailability: Enhanced delivery of active compounds for superior antibiofilm performance.
Technology readiness level

Currently at TRL 4, the formulation has shown promising results in controlled settings, with planned further validation through in vitro oral biofilm models. It aims to disrupt extracellular polymeric substances and facilitate biofilm detachment, while maintaining biocompatibility and safety. The mouthwash will be benchmarked against conventional products to establish a proof of concept for its effectiveness in promoting oral health.
