Introducing a fluoride-free toothpaste combining NovaMin bioactive glass and γ-PGA for effective stain removal and enamel protection. This dual-action formulation supports enamel health and delivers visible whitening by enhancing remineralization and forming a protective barrier.

Overview

This innovative toothpaste combines NovaMin bioactive glass with poly-γ-glutamic acid (γ-PGA) to offer a fluoride-free solution for enamel protection and tooth whitening. NovaMin releases calcium and phosphate ions that precipitate into a hydroxyapatite-like layer, while γ-PGA forms a bioadhesive film enhancing ion retention. This dual-action approach not only aids in stain removal but also provides a protective barrier against demineralization, ensuring stronger, stain-free teeth.

Technical specifications
  • NovaMin: A well-established bioactive material functioning as a mild abrasive and mineral source.
  • γ-PGA: A naturally derived polypeptide that mimics salivary proteins, forming a stable, bioadhesive film on enamel.
  • Stain Removal & Protection: Demonstrated through in vitro demineralisation testing and FTIR spectra. γ-PGA reduces mineral loss by approximately 50% in acid challenge conditions.
  • Future Validation: Includes optimizing formulation, stain removal testing, and safety assessments such as Relative Dentin Abrasivity and acid resistance.
Technology readiness level

Currently at TRL 3, this toothpaste formulation is undergoing further validation to optimize its efficacy and safety. A comprehensive 12-month laboratory program is planned to refine the product for market readiness.
