Afflo Sensors presents a UV-based system for on-site, continuous monitoring of CO2 and carbon in soil to assess microbial activity. This innovative solution allows real-time data collection, improving soil health evaluation and nutrient cycling analysis with low power usage.
Afflo Sensors introduces a groundbreaking UV-based CO2 and carbon monitoring system designed to deliver continuous, on-site assessments of microbial activity within soil environments. Unlike traditional methods that require labor-intensive sampling and delayed laboratory analysis, this innovative approach allows for near-real-time evaluation of soil health and ecosystem functionality. The system's ability to measure in-soil CO2 provides insights into current microbial respiration, while assessments of in-soil carbon offer estimates of potential microbial activity. This leads to more accurate, timely, and efficient evaluations crucial for understanding nutrient cycling and ecosystem productivity.
Currently at Technology Readiness Level 6, this system has undergone successful laboratory testing with a prototype and is now advancing through the stages of broader field testing. Over 50 units are being fabricated for deployment at five diverse locations to assess performance over a full harvesting season. This evaluation will confirm the system's scalability and effectiveness in real-world agricultural settings.
