Innovative microencapsulation technique utilizing biodegradable polymers and Response Surface Methodology (RSM) to enhance encapsulation efficiency, reduce costs, and streamline analysis. Suitable for industries requiring precise compound delivery such as pharmaceuticals and food.

Overview

This research introduces an advanced microencapsulation technique using biodegradable polymers such as chitosan, gum Arabic, and maltodextrin. By employing Response Surface Methodology (RSM), this approach optimizes the encapsulation process, enhancing efficiency while reducing time and costs associated with traditional analysis methods. This innovative method is particularly beneficial for industries such as pharmaceuticals and food, where precise delivery of active compounds is crucial.

Technical specifications
  • Biodegradable Polymers: Utilizes chitosan, gum Arabic, and maltodextrin for eco-friendly encapsulation.
  • Response Surface Methodology (RSM): Employs Design Expert software to optimize variables such as coating concentration and stirring time, achieving high encapsulation efficiency.
  • Freeze Drying Technique: Ensures the stability and longevity of microcapsules.
  • Characterization Tools: Utilizes FTIR spectroscopy, particle-size analyzer (PSA), and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) for detailed analysis of microcapsules.
Technology readiness level

The technology is currently at TRL 3, indicating that experimental proof of concept has been demonstrated in a laboratory setting. Further validation and scale-up are required to advance the technology for commercial applications.
