PinPlot is a precision imaging pipeline that uses UAV multispectral images to create detailed geoJSON files, mapping individual plant coordinates in open-field plots. It offers efficient plant segmentation and plot grid creation for agricultural research.
PinPlot is an advanced imaging solution designed to enhance precision in agricultural research by creating detailed open-field plot grids. Utilizing high-resolution UAV multispectral images, PinPlot separates individual plants from the background to map their exact coordinates. This technology outputs a comprehensive geoJSON file containing precise spatial data for each plant across an entire field, facilitating improved analysis and decision-making in agricultural settings.
Key features:
This technology is currently at TRL 3. The process has been validated in controlled environments using high-resolution image data, but further testing and refinement are required before it can be deployed in broader field applications.
IFMT is a public, multi-campus federal institute in Mato Grosso with a mandate for professional education, applied research, and innovation. Its Systemic Directorate for Technological Innovation and Entrepreneurship brokers partnerships with companies and regional productive arrangements, linking them to labs and prototyping spaces across campuses. The Ativa incubator and the institution’s technology innovation agency (NIT) offer venture support, IP and licensing services, and clear paths for sponsored R&D. The institute collaborates with the Mato Grosso Technology Park in the Cuiabá–Várzea Grande area and was credentialed to host an EMBRAPII unit, streamlining co-development with private R&D teams. Projects are backed by competitive public funding from agencies such as CNPq, FAPEMAT, CAPES, and Finep, with cost-sharing models that align resources to industry demand.
