Nahlsgen (INCI: Methyl Carboxymethylphenyl Aminocarboxypropylphosphonate) was developed by us as an ingredient for anti-aging cosmetics and has been sold for skincare cosmetics producers since 2012. Keora, an oral moisturizer containing Nahlsgen, was developed in collaboration with Nissin Co., Ltd. and launched in 2019. It comes in two types: mist and gel. The impetus for product development came around 2016 when a doctor used Nahlsgen-containing cosmetics on a patient and saw that their oral ulcers healed. Subsequently, fragmentary information gathered from the medical field that it seemed to be effective for mouth ulcers and dry mouth, leading to the joint development of an oral moisturizer with Nissin Co., Ltd., a long-established manufacturer in Kyoto that develops and sells dental materials and oral products. During product development, 12 terminal care patients at Nihon University Matsudo Dental Clinic used the product, and improvements in oral moisture, bad breath, and tongue coating were confirmed.

  1. In 2021, in a joint research project between Asahi University and Nissin Co., Ltd., 10 students used the product for 8 weeks, and improvements in oral moisture content, tongue coating index (TCI), tongue surface bacteria count, and cariogenic bacteria in mouthwash spit were confirmed.
  2. In 2022, a joint research project between Osaka Dental University and Nissin Corporation confirmed improvements in inflammatory symptoms and swallowing function in patients.
  3. Last year, with the cooperation of Nissin Corporation, the product was used on 114 patients undergoing cancer treatment who had oral problems at Sagara Hospital in Kagoshima, and the results were analyzed, confirming a patient satisfaction rate of over 80%. Improvements in oral dryness and increased oral moisture were observed in patients undergoing cancer treatment and palliative care.
