A novel hyperspectral imaging system designed for real-time dimensional metrology of 3D nanostructures in roll-to-roll manufacturing. The system provides high-resolution spectral data across a wide line width, suitable for various applications including in-line monitoring.

Overview

The real-time line-scan spectroscopic imaging system is a cutting-edge solution for the dimensional metrology of 3D nanostructures within roll-to-roll (R2R) manufacturing processes. It offers the ability to continuously inspect samples at constant velocity, making it ideal for high-speed production lines. The system captures high-resolution spectral data across a line width of up to 100 mm, allowing for comprehensive real-time process inspection. It is designed to adapt to various applications, including monitoring the spectral absorption and texture of materials, such as ice cream, in different states.

Technical specifications
  • Hyperspectral Imaging: Utilizes a linescan hyperspectral camera capable of broadband response from UV-vis-NIR.
  • Projection Optics: Features reflective optics with low chromatic aberrations for accurate spectral imaging.
  • High Line Speed: Simultaneously captures data over a wide line width, supporting high-speed manufacturing processes.
  • Customizable Wavelength Bands: Can be tailored to specific wavelength bands of interest informed by physical or AI models.
  • Potential Applications: In-line monitoring of spectral absorption/reflectance and texture analysis in various materials.
Technology readiness level

The technology is currently at TRL 5, indicating that it has been validated in a relevant environment. The ongoing development includes constructing an in-line system for continuous R2R web processing, with future plans for further validation and adaptation to specific applications.
