Introducing DENTA, a dual-enzyme nano-whitening agent that utilizes salivary glucose for continuous, self-activated tooth whitening. With enhanced biocompatibility and selective antibacterial effects, this solution offers a safe and effective alternative to traditional methods.

Overview

DENTA represents an innovative approach to tooth whitening by leveraging a dual-enzyme system activated by salivary glucose. This technology offers a continuous and self-sustaining whitening process, unlike traditional hydrogen peroxide-based agents which can have limited efficacy and potential side effects. By using glucose oxidase (GOx) to convert glucose into hydrogen peroxide, and catalase (CAT) to decompose excess hydrogen peroxide, DENTA minimizes oxidative stress and preserves oral health. This results in a controlled, gradual whitening effect with minimal damage to oral tissues and selective removal of harmful bacteria.

Technical specifications
  • Composition: Hydroxyapatite modified with glucose oxidase (GOx) and catalase (CAT)
  • Mechanism: Utilizes salivary glucose to sustain enzymatic activity, producing reactive oxygen species (ROS) within safe physiological levels
  • Benefits:
    • Continuous and self-activated whitening
    • Excellent biocompatibility with oral cells
    • Selective antibacterial effects targeting harmful bacteria
    • Accumulation in dentinal tubules for prolonged activity
    • Minimal oxidative stress and tissue damage
Technology readiness level

DENTA has achieved a technology readiness level of 4, having been validated under simulated tooth-brushing conditions. Future plans include conducting controlled tests under simulated oral conditions to further assess its performance and optimize its structure for in vivo trials. Collaboration is sought to support these efforts and advance to commercial readiness.
