STE – Sanitizing Technologies and Equipment is an innovative company and spin-off of the University of Urbino specialising in ultraviolet technologies. We help companies transform scientific principles and technical needs into functional, validated and market-ready products.
Our core expertise covers UV-based sanitization of air, liquids and surfaces, together with controlled irradiation for contaminant identification, material analysis and optical detection. STE develops complete systems, OEM modules and customised components by combining UV sources, optics, electronics, fluid dynamics, mechanical design, sensors, control algorithms and data analysis.
Our technologies are applied in environmental hygiene, food and industrial equipment, water treatment, beauty and personal care, analytical and diagnostic devices, laboratory instrumentation and biomedical machinery. We work with different wavelengths and irradiation strategies according to the biological, chemical or physical target, selecting the most suitable solution for each application.
STE offers feasibility studies, optical design, wavelength selection, dose assessment, prototyping, laboratory testing, microbiological validation, performance analysis, engineering support and technical documentation. Projects can begin from a new idea or from an existing product to be upgraded with UV-based functions.
Our multidisciplinary team includes researchers, microbiologists, engineers and product developers. Our work is supported by patents, scientific publications, laboratory expertise and experience in industrial product development.
Each project follows a structured path: objective analysis, technology selection, concept design, prototype development, testing, optimisation and industrialisation support. Next steps focus on expanding advanced UV applications, strengthening analytical and biomedical capabilities, and building new industrial partnerships.
