Technology
In development
Company

Innovative UV-curable adhesive films using photocurable polymers offer a new solution for nail applications. These films are designed for easy application and durability, making them ideal for cosmetic use.

Overview

These UV-curable pressure sensitive adhesive films represent a cutting-edge solution for cosmetic nail applications. Developed using a novel combination of photocurable polymers such as polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP), poly(ethylene glycol) diacrylate (PEGDA), and polyethylene glycol (PEG), these films are engineered to adhere securely to nail plates. The innovation allows for integration of coloring agents, providing both functional and aesthetic benefits.

Technical specifications

Key features:

  • Composition: Utilizes PVP, PEGDA, and PEG, with optional propylene glycol (PG), to form adhesive films.
  • Thickness: Designed with variable thickness options (50, 100, 150 microns) to cater to different application needs.
  • Durability: Tested under simulated use conditions for up to four weeks, assessing adhesion and durability on nail plates.
  • Application: Easy to apply and remove, suitable for cosmetic use with potential for drug encapsulation for sustained release.
Technology readiness level

The technology is currently at TRL 4, indicating that it has been validated in a lab environment. Ongoing research focuses on testing peeling force and durability to advance its readiness for commercial applications.
