Eco-friendly flavonoids from plants offer sustainable UV protection for agrochemicals, enhancing their stability without altering formulations. This technology leverages plant-based UV absorbers to prevent degradation, ensuring prolonged effectiveness of agrochemical solutions.

Overview

This innovative solution utilizes naturally occurring flavonoids to provide UV protection for agrochemicals, thereby enhancing their stability and effectiveness. Flavonoids are plant metabolites known for their ability to absorb UV radiation and mitigate its harmful effects. By isolating specific flavonoids from plant species such as parsley, celery, spinach, and strawberries, this technology aims to create a sustainable and eco-friendly UV protection solution for agrochemical applications.

Technical specifications

Key features:

  • Flavonoids exhibit broad UV absorption, covering UV-C to UV-A ranges.
  • These compounds are resistant to degradation and naturally non-toxic, ensuring safe use.
  • Flavonoids possess antioxidant properties and are oil-soluble, enhancing compatibility with agrochemical formulations.
  • Isolation and characterization involve UV stability assays using LC-MS analysis to ensure effectiveness.

Applications:

  • Ideal for extending the stability and effectiveness of agrochemicals exposed to UV radiation.
  • Applicable in both field and controlled environments, benefiting agricultural practices by reducing the need for frequent reapplication.
Technology readiness level

This technology is at TRL 5, indicating that it has been validated in relevant environments, with ongoing efforts to optimize and integrate the flavonoids into agrochemical products for commercial use.
