Wind tunnel testing for air filter efficiency and pressure drop

Facilities & testing
University

We offer full-service wind tunnel testing at the University of Alberta in Edmonton, Canada, to evaluate air filter performance under controlled airflow conditions.

Testing can investigate particle-removal efficiency and pressure drop at selected airflow rates, helping partners compare filter media and configurations and assess the balance between filtration performance and airflow resistance.

Potential projects include: • Measuring upstream and downstream particle concentrations to evaluate filtration efficiency. • Measuring pressure drop across filters at different airflow rates. • Comparing filter media, designs, and prototype configurations. • Supporting filter development and research on HVAC and air-treatment systems.

Our team works with partners to define the test objectives, suitable methods, operating conditions, and reporting requirements. Services include test planning, setup, execution, data analysis, and technical reporting.

This capability is suited to filter manufacturers, HVAC companies, air-treatment technology developers, and research organizations. Filter dimensions, airflow range, particle-size range, test aerosol, and compatibility with the apparatus are confirmed during project scoping.

Please contact us with your filter specifications, desired measurements, and timeline. Costs and scheduling are agreed based on the testing scope.
