Public open university in Islamabad with a nationwide distance-learning network, 48 regional campuses, model study centers, digital learning infrastructure, and a research, innovation, and commercialization office. Its distributed model connects research and talent with organizations across Pakistan.
Allama Iqbal Open University is a large public, open and distance-learning university established in 1974, with a national reach and an access-oriented character. Its operating model is built around 48 regional campuses, seven model study centers, more than 300 study centers, and a digital learning platform supporting distributed teaching, tutoring, assessment, and engagement. This network gives corporate R&D teams a practical way to connect with faculty, researchers, and learners across Pakistan rather than relying only on the Islamabad campus. Research is supported by university funding and competitive national programs, including Pakistan’s Higher Education Commission and Pakistan Science Foundation. A dedicated Office of Research, Innovation and Commercialization supports university–industry relationships, applied research, technology transfer, and commercialization.
