The Alliance of Bioversity International and CIAT is a global research‑for‑development institute within CGIAR, headquartered in Rome with regional hubs in Africa, the Americas, and Asia. It links co‑located labs and the Future Seeds genebank in Palmira with field sites and on‑farm partners, giving companies rapid, responsible access to materials, testing environments, and evidence. Partnership and innovation mechanisms engage corporates, startups, and investors to co‑design pilots and de‑risk scale‑up. Research is supported by CGIAR funding and competitive awards from national and multilateral development agencies and foundations, including work with USAID. The CGIAR Accelerate for Impact Platform, hosted at the Alliance, helps turn research into ventures and industry‑ready solutions.
