A mental health teaching hospital and research centre in Toronto, CAMH combines integrated clinical care, patient-partnered research, clinical trials, brain-imaging infrastructure, and technology-transfer support. Its University of Toronto affiliation strengthens industry access.
CAMH is Canada’s largest mental health teaching hospital and a major research hospital, with more than 4,000 staff and about 600 research staff. Its clinical setting embeds research in care, supporting patient and family engagement, clinical validation, and translation into practice. A Clinical Trials Unit works with academic collaborators, industry sponsors, and government agencies, while the Brain Health Imaging Centre provides PET/MRI, radiochemistry, and cyclotron infrastructure. Fully affiliated with the University of Toronto, CAMH is connected to Toronto’s dense academic health-science ecosystem. Research is supported by CIHR, competitive public funding, and philanthropy; an Industry Partnerships & Technology Transfer Office guides IP protection, co-development, licensing, and commercialization.
