International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis

IIASA is an international research institute headquartered in Laxenburg, Austria, with a global, policy-oriented character and 566 affiliated researchers from 60 countries reported in 2024. Its proximity to Vienna and network of national and regional member organizations give corporate R&D teams access to cross-border expertise and collaborators working across institutional boundaries. IIASA develops models, scenarios, and research tools for complex systems and engages governments, international organizations, academia, and business through contracts, grants, and formal partnerships. Core support comes from member organizations, with additional funding from the European Commission, the Austrian Research Promotion Agency, and other national and international funders; the institute also supports transfer and in-country use of its models and tools.
