Jimma University

Jimma University is a large public research university in southwestern Ethiopia with a broad, community-oriented mission. Its Community-Based Education model connects teaching and research with communities and public institutions, while a university medical center supports clinical and service-linked collaboration. The Institute of Technology, agricultural facilities, research institutes, and research centers create platforms for engagement with employers, government, and international partners. Research combines Ethiopian government and university support with competitive external awards associated with NIH, USAID, WHO/TDR, the Wellcome Trust, and the Gates Foundation. Dedicated technology-transfer and university–industry linkage offices support commercialization.
