Uganda’s national agricultural research agency with a nationwide network of research institutes and field stations, on-farm trial sites, collaboration hubs, and technology transfer support. Access to diverse agro-ecological zones enables rapid field validation.
The National Agricultural Research Organisation (NARO) is Uganda’s government agricultural R&D system, operating a distributed network of institutes, laboratories, and field sites across the country. It connects directly with producers and agribusiness through co-located experimental farms, on-farm trials, and regional outreach that speeds adoption and scale-up. Industry partners engage via collaborative testing, facility access, and jointly designed pilots aligned to local supply chains and export markets. Research is supported by Government of Uganda appropriations and competitive international development funding. A dedicated technology transfer function supports IP, licensing, and partnership structures that move innovations from trials to commercial deployment.
