Independent nonprofit research center in Santa Fe, New Mexico, with a theoretical complexity-science platform, computational research environment, visiting-scholar network, educational programs, and an industry partnership network. Its Applied Complexity Network bridges research and cross-industry collaboration.
Santa Fe Institute is a small, independent nonprofit research and education center focused on foundational, interdisciplinary complexity science rather than degree education. Its resident faculty and postdoctoral community is complemented by a global network of external scholars, with more than 1,500 visitors coming through its Santa Fe campuses each year for research visits, workshops, meetings, and educational programs. Corporate engagement is organized through the Applied Complexity Network, which brings companies and government organizations into cross-industry discussions and helps broker researcher relationships for mutually defined work. Research is supported by the National Science Foundation, NASA, the U.S. Department of Agriculture, and other federal agencies, alongside foundations and philanthropy.
