Private liberal-arts research university in Quito, Ecuador, with a Cumbayá campus, research laboratories, specialized institutes, and field stations in the Amazon and Galápagos. Its technology-transfer center supports applied research, consulting, and public- and private-sector collaboration.
Universidad San Francisco de Quito (USFQ) is a private, nonprofit, liberal-arts research university with more than 8,500 students and an international, entrepreneurial character. Its Cumbayá campus combines research laboratories, specialized institutes, high-performance computing, and support for externally funded research and consulting. The university extends this platform through the Galápagos Science Center, created with the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and field infrastructure in the Amazon, giving partners access to distinctive environments and local institutional relationships. Funding comes through competitive external sources, including Ecuador’s SENESCYT and international universities, agencies, and foundations. A Technology Transfer and Development Center and an Intellectual Property and Tech Transfer Office support contracting, IP protection, licensing, and commercialization.
