Former small, STEM-focused university in Philadelphia with a University City campus, advanced laboratories, clinical simulation facilities, and professional education. It merged into Saint Joseph’s University on June 1, 2022, and no longer operates independently.
University of the Sciences in Philadelphia was a small private, STEM-focused institution with a professionally oriented character and a 200-year Philadelphia legacy. Before merging on June 1, 2022, its University City campus offered concentrated laboratory infrastructure, clinical simulation facilities, and employer-aligned professional education near Philadelphia’s health and innovation ecosystem. This location supported practical engagement among faculty, students, and external partners, while the institution’s research enterprise drew historically on competitive federal funding, including NIH and NSF support. It also maintained technology-transfer capacity for patents, licensing, and startup formation. USciences is no longer an independent university; its academic programs, campus, and records became part of Saint Joseph’s University.
