Sydney-based independent medical research institute with co-located laboratories, an Innovation Centre, clinician-researcher access, and a hospital research precinct. Its long-standing UNSW Sydney affiliation and St Vincent’s integration create a direct pathway from discovery to clinical translation.
The Victor Chang Cardiac Research Institute is a Sydney-based, independent not-for-profit medical research institute with more than 200 researchers, a national footprint, and a focused translational character. Its laboratories are embedded in the St Vincent’s Hospital Research Precinct alongside clinical and biomedical partners, supporting close interaction between researchers, clinicians, and patient-care environments. A long-standing affiliation with UNSW Sydney, dedicated innovation infrastructure, and collaborations across Australia’s health and medical research ecosystem help external partners engage with expertise, facilities, and pathways toward validation. Research is supported by competitive funding from the National Health and Medical Research Council, Medical Research Future Fund, NSW Health, Australian Research Council, and philanthropic sources. The Innovation Centre and industry collaborations add capacity for technology development and translation.
