Nfinite was founded in 2021 by Chee Hau Teoh and Jhi Yong Loke as University of Waterloo students alongside their scientific advisor Kevin Musselman, with the goal of reducing plastic waste globally by replacing multi-material flexible packaging with high-fibre content paper packaging. Nfinite is pioneering a coating process known as AP-SALD (spatial atomic layer deposition), a non-vacuum roll-to-roll process for ultrathin (<100 nm) conformal metal oxide coatings. The company has built a customer backing of global CPGs, and is positioned to scale their process to full production in 2026-2027.
