Nfinite Nanotech offers a recyclable ultra-high barrier paper solution using AP-SALD technology. This innovative coating process provides exceptional barrier properties, making paper a viable alternative to metallized plastics for flexible packaging applications.
Nfinite Nanotech introduces an advanced recyclable ultra-high barrier paper designed for high-speed packaging lines. Utilizing AP-SALD (spatial atomic layer deposition), this innovative coating process applies ultrathin metal oxide layers to paper, achieving remarkable barrier properties. The paper solution is capable of achieving a WVTR (water vapor transmission rate) of less than 0.2 g/m²/day at 38 °C and 90% relative humidity, and an OTR (oxygen transmission rate) of less than 0.5 cc/m²/day at 23 °C and 50% relative humidity. This positions paper as a competitive alternative to metallized plastics, providing high barrier properties while being recyclable.
Currently at TRL 4, the technology has been validated through trials with various coating techniques and is ready for further testing in FFS/VFFS lines to confirm sealability and machinability. Ongoing developments focus on enhancing barrier integrity and flex-crack resistance during mechanical stress in forming processes.
Founded in 2021, this nanotechnology startup emerged from research at the University of Waterloo. It specializes in advanced materials for packaging, and has quickly gained traction with its nanocoating platform, earning recognition and partnerships in the packaging industry.
