I am a postdoc researcher at CÚRAM, University of Galway, working at the interface of functional biomaterials, redox chemistry and translational bioengineering. My research focuses on designing hydrogels, polymers and metalloporphyrin-based systems that manipulate biologically active molecules such as nitric oxide and heme, with applications spanning cancer, sensing and therapeutic materials. I combine polymer functionalization, hydrogel engineering, heme/porphyrin chemistry, analytical chemistry and advanced biological models to translate molecular mechanisms into practical material technologies. I am particularly interested in industry collaborations where chemistry and materials design can solve clearly defined product challenges and progress rapidly from proof-of-concept to validation.
