Nulla Bio builds precision gene-editing tools for crops - Cas12a gene targeting, dicot prime editing, SuperAgrobacterium delivery, root-to-shoot transformation - and applies them to high-value traits. Lead product: a high-lutein tomato, reviewed as non-novel by Health Canada.

Seeking global partners to commercialize our high-lutein tomato - an 11-fold lutein increase achieved by gene editing, with no foreign DNA. Health Canada has reviewed it as not a novel food. We are looking for seed production, greenhouse growing and distribution partners.
About
Jae-Yean Kim is Professor of Applied Life Science at Gyeongsang National University and founder and CEO of Nulla Bio. His laboratory has spent a decade on the two hardest problems in plant genome editing: making precise edits work in dicots, and delivering them into genotypes that resist transformation. The group reported the first practical prime editing in tomato, developed the Ultra Prime Editor and a root-to-shoot system yielding T0 homozygous prime-edited Arabidopsis, and published Cas12a gene targeting with geminiviral replicons and dominant-negative KU80. This work appears in Nature Communications and Plant Biotechnology Journal. He founded Nulla Bio in 2022 to translate these platforms into crops, and chairs the Korean Society for New Plant Breeding Technology.
