I am an Associate Professor of Physiology and Co-Lead of the BioActivEx research group. We investigate how bioactive compounds influence exercise-induced muscle damage, adipose tissue inflammation, and musculoskeletal ageing. My work integrates human physiology with advanced techniques such as proteomics and primary human cell culture to uncover the mechanistic basis of how bioactives affect human health in vivo. My research has been supported by organisations including Innovate UK, the US Highbush Blueberry Council, Pukka Herbs, Lallemand, and PepsiCo.
