With our Commercial partner AgriSea, we developped a novel pulping process where Brown algae biomass waste is used as feedstock for creating high value biopolymers. The two first biopolymers available from the Biorefinery pilot plant are Cellulose and alginate.
About
My main research is on plant cell wall biosynthesis. From there I branched into biocomposite with a focus on PHA and natural fibre, wood functionlisation. Nowadays my two main research projects are the validation of Ion sensors using OECT technology and finding applications for the biopolymers (Cellulose and alginate) extracted from the brown algae biorefinery that AgriSea is building with the support of my company (BSI).
