Biofilm formation by microorganisms employed as biofertilizers
About
Biofertilizers and biocontrol agents counteract the negative impacts originated by the continuous use of agrochemicals. Bio-based products in the market mostly contain planktonic microorganisms that rarely provide an adequate inoculum of competitive cells under field conditions. The natural ability of microorganisms to form biofilms could be exploited in the formulation of inoculants, resulting in innovative strategies to promote crops growth and health in a more efficient and sustainable way.
