RTS is a Rice University spin-out founded by a team of dedicated mechanical and electrical engineers focusing on building scalable solutions for fresh water production and critical mineral recovery from high-salinity resources. Our solution, so-called “STREED”, is a membrane-free resonant thermal energy-transfer system that converts abundant energy and high-salinity water into fresh water while selectively recovering critical minerals. STREED reuses waste heat and solar energy, avoiding grid electricity and complex separations. By controlling evaporation and crystallization through engineered materials and system design, STREED turns waste streams into valuable water and mineral outputs at low energy cost.
