Background

We are a global leader in consumer health, offering science-based products that support daily wellness across categories like immunity, digestion, and nutritional supplementation.

Additive manufacturing, also known as 3D printing, is a process of creating three-dimensional objects by layering materials based on digital models. This technology allows for the production of complex and customized designs with high precision and minimal waste. Though widely adopted in fields such as aerospace and healthcare, its application in nutrition and wellness is still emerging.

Additive manufacturing technologies have the potential to enhance our production capabilities, scale processes, and reduce costs. By leveraging additive manufacturing, we could also offer personalized Vitamins, Minerals, and Supplements (VMS) products tailored to individual customer needs. This customization can include specific dosages, unique formulations, and personalized experiences. Through this effort, we aim to unlock new models of customization and cost-effective innovation in the health and nutrition space.

What we're looking for

We are looking for additive manufacturing technologies that can enable the production of personalized VMS (vitamins, minerals, and supplements) for both internal manufacturing optimization and customized consumer experiences.

Solutions of interest include:
  • 3D-printing systems for personalized tablet/capsule production
  • Systems enabling layered or compartmentalized delivery in a single supplement
  • Micro-dosing additive platforms for capsule personalization
Our must-have requirements are:
  • Supports individual dose customization of multiple active ingredients within a single unit
  • Compatible with VMS raw materials in powder, gel, or semisolid form
  • Enables production of ingestible formats such as tablets, capsules, gummies and powder
  • Clear rationale for how ingredient integrity will be preserved during manufacturing (e.g., protection from heat, pressure, and/or light)
Our nice-to-have's are:
  • Enables multi-phase or timed-release dosing formats
  • Compact or modular design for easier integration into existing operations
Acceptable technology readiness levels (TRL):
Levels 4-9

Q.
We have a 3D printed technique that is low cost and could do personalized nutrition at a scale slightly larger than gummies - e.g. breakfast bar scale size. Would this be of interest?
