Background

Today's hair grooming solutions involve blades, devices, or chemical depilatories that while effective, have certain trade-offs in safety, convenience, or irritation. Consumer trends for facial and body hair management also vary widely resulting in a need for product solutions that are effective and intuitively easy to use to achieve the desired grooming appearance.

What we're looking for

We are looking for solutions and devices that aid in creating and/or maintaining a look through hair removal/trimming, shaping, and styling.

Solutions of interest include:
  • Chemistries that can aid in hair removal, retard hair growth rate, or assist in the shaving process
  • Light or laser-based hair retardation technologies
  • Shaving accessories, like razor organizers and stands
  • Wet razors
  • Electric razors, epilators, and precision trimming devices
What's out of scope:
  • Solutions exclusively for head hair cutting, shaping, or styling
Acceptable technology readiness levels (TRL):
Levels 4-9

Benefits:
Sponsored Research
Up to $100,000 for a proof-of-concept, with additional potential funding for further development. Exact funding amount based on resources needed in Statement of Work.
Expertise
Partners will be assigned a company mentor to champion the project, identify gaps in expertise, and meet bi-monthly to ensure project success. Partners will have access to industry experts in chemistry, biology, pharmacology, toxicology, and devices, depending on the stage of the project.
