Background

We are a leading company in the consumer health and beauty sector with an interest in advancing scientific understanding of hair biology and growth. Hair growth is governed by complex biological mechanisms, including epithelial–mesenchymal signaling and metabolic interactions within the follicle microenvironment. These coordinated pathways regulate follicle development, cycling, and regeneration, making it challenging to develop screening approaches that accurately capture follicle biology and identify effective modulators.

Current research relies on in vitro assays, cell culture systems, and in vivo models to study follicle biology and evaluate potential compounds. While informative, no single system provides both sufficient biological relevance and scalability for efficient screening, limiting the ability to systematically evaluate large numbers of candidates. As a result, identifying compounds that influence hair growth requires extensive testing across diverse biological targets and systems.

Advanced high-throughput platforms capable of efficiently screening compounds for their effects on key biological processes in hair growth and follicle function would enable rapid evaluation of large candidate sets and support the discovery of novel modulators of follicle biology.

What we're looking for

We are seeking high-throughput screening capabilities that can evaluate compounds for their effects on cellular or molecular processes relevant to hair growth and follicle biology.

Solutions of interest include:
  • High-content imaging platforms for cellular responses
  • High-throughput cell-based assays related to hair follicle biology
  • Multiplexed assays measuring proliferation, signaling, or metabolic activity
  • Platforms adaptable to dermatology or follicle-related biology
  • Reporter assays targeting pathways relevant to hair growth
  • Scalable screening systems compatible with compound libraries
Our must-have requirements are:
  • Potential to enable evaluation of multiple compounds across a range of concentrations
  • Provides quantitative biological readouts related to proliferation, signaling pathways, follicular biology, or other hair growth-associated mechanisms

What we can offer you
Eligible partnership models:
Sponsored research
Benefits:
Sponsored Research
Funding available for sponsored research projects conducted by expert CRO partners. Scope may expand to additional studies based on initial results/development. The scope of work and budget will be negotiated based on the proposed approach, project duration, and expected impact. For similar proof-of-concept projects, budgets have typically ranged from $50,000 to $120,000 for a 6–12 month effort.
Expertise
Partners will interact with a project lead to mutually develop a project plan and engage in regular meetings to ensure success. Partners will have access to internal team/experts as appropriate.
