Normal HEPA filters are great for removing particles but don't remove or destroy chemicals or odors that are in vapor phase. Today the best most common technology to use to remove these chemicals and odors in air involves using activated carbon, which often don't last the life of the filter and/or lose effectiveness in a few weeks. We are interested in novel technologies that can remove these odors, chemicals and volatile organic compounds (VOCs) from the air. It would also be advantageous if the technology eliminates or inactivates bacteria, virus, molds and other pathogens.
What we're looking for
We are seeking technologies that remove, destroy, or eliminate chemicals and odors in air. A second priority would be also to eliminate, destroy or inactivate pathogens in the air.
Solutions of interest include:
Add-on component or device that moves air and contains filtration media, materials, or filter coating/treatment
Module (e.g. plasma, UVC, catalyst) within the device
Our nice-to-have's are:
Eliminates odors and chemicals while also providing a minimum of 3-log inactivation of pathogens flowing through device.
Compatible with existing HEPA filtration equipment.
What's out of scope:
Solutions that release ozone, ROS, formaldehyde, or any other harmful by-products into air
