Fishburnetabs™ - one platform, three applications
FishburneTabs® OH - Oral Hydration Monitoring A 30-second, non-invasive visual assessment of oral hydration and salivary flow. Clinically validated in peer-reviewed publication (Giacaman et al., Oral Diseases, January 2026: 74.2% PPV; r=0.68 vs sialometry) in cognitively impaired elderly care home residents. Currently deployed as an exploratory endpoint in an active Sjögren's disease therapy trial. Class I medical device - self-certification pathway. Applications: care homes, oncology (xerostomia monitoring), community nursing, dental and oral medicine, consumer wellness.
FishburneTabs™ SC — Saliva Collection Platform A standardised microsampling format for dried saliva , analogous to the Dried Blood Spot card for blood. Validated for viral RNA molecular diagnostics at 85% sensitivity and 94% specificity versus liquid saliva (Mora, Mace et al., ACS Measurement Science, 2026, 6(1), 189–195). Wide analytical compatibility under investigation: DNA, proteins, metabolites. Metrological assessment by the National Physical Laboratory underway (Innovate UK A4i grant, 2026). Applications: clinical trials, pharmaceutical sample collection, biobanking, decentralised diagnostics.
FishburneTabs™ Health - Multi-Biomarker Monitoring Platform (in development) The long-term platform vision: a consumer-facing, paper-based test for systemic health risk indicators detectable in saliva - diabetes, cardiovascular risk, cancer early signals, and inflammatory disease markers. Built on the validated FishburneTabs substrate, with NHS screening pathways and consumer retail channels as the target routes to market from 2027–2030.

Our core product, FishburneTabs™, is a paper substrate device placed in the mouth for 30 seconds. It requires no equipment, no training, and no laboratory, saliva is absorbed into the paper, producing a visual readout or preserving the sample for downstream analysis. The platform is clinically validated, peer-reviewed, and already in active use in clinical trials.
We hold exclusive non-US commercial rights to the FishburneTabs platform, manufactured by our US partners FishburneMay LLC (USA). Our scientific work is underpinned by a government-funded metrological assessment partnership with the National Physical Laboratory (Innovate UK, 2026), a UK NIHR award, and by active engagement with an IHI EU oral health consortium.
Salvivo was founded by Dr Dale Athey and Professor Philip Preshaw, combining 30+ years of diagnostics commercialisation experience with 200+ publications in oral medicine and clinical research.
