United vision: plant-owned vision AI for factory-wide visual inspection

United Vision is BCD iLabs' self-service Vision AI platform for manufacturing quality and visual inspection. It is built for operations, quality, engineering, automation, and plant teams across manufacturing industries.

Plants often already know where more visual inspection would help. The challenge is that each additional use case can become another specialist-led project, hardware decision, software charge, and maintenance dependency. United Vision is designed to make visual inspection easier to implement, own, update, and expand.

How it works Plant teams use their own process knowledge to:

• capture representative examples from the line;
• define and label the conditions that matter;
• train an inspection model;
• deploy it to a supported edge device for real-time inference; and
• review results and update, retrain, and redeploy the model as products, processes, operating conditions, or defect definitions change.

This is plant-owned, full-lifecycle self-service. It does not mean every deployment requires zero engineering, validation, lighting, hardware, integration, or implementation support.

Each use case is assessed independently for imageability, lighting, presentation, line speed, environmental constraints, hardware compatibility, data availability, workflow fit, and acceptance criteria.

Status and next step United Vision is an in-market platform. New applications are not assumed to be production-ready or universally compatible. The recommended path is to start with one high-value, visually clear inspection; agree on the baseline and success criteria; validate with representative production data; pilot on supported hardware; and expand only after operational value is demonstrated.

Target outcomes may include more consistent inspection, earlier visibility into defects, less manual inspection burden, lower rework and waste, and broader coverage.
