TR-VISUAL is a cost-effective, modular visual perception system for greenhouse crop monitoring. It utilizes a smartphone or smart module with AI, motion actuators, and 5G to transport a high-resolution camera on a fixed rail, capturing detailed plant data in real time.

Overview

TR-VISUAL is an innovative visual perception system designed to optimize crop monitoring within greenhouses. The system employs a modular design that integrates a high-resolution camera, which can be a standard android smartphone, mounted on a fixed rail line. This setup allows for precise and real-time monitoring of crops, leveraging existing greenhouse infrastructure to reduce costs. By using structured light technology, TR-VISUAL captures detailed plant information in a single shot, enhancing data quality and decision-making processes.

About INESC TEC - Instituto de Engenharia de Sistemas e Computadores, Tecnologia e Ciência

INESC TEC is a private, non-profit research and technology organization operating across multiple sites in Northern Portugal and closely linked to the University of Porto. Structured as an interface institution, it connects academia, companies and public agencies through contract research, collaborative development, advanced consulting and training. Co-located labs, multi-site testbeds and pilot-scale demonstrators enable rapid prototyping and validation, while researcher secondments and co-creation models keep projects embedded with industry. Research is supported by competitive European and Portuguese funding programs alongside significant industry-sponsored work. A dedicated technology transfer function manages IP and licensing and supports spin-off creation and pre-incubation.
