CERTECH offers a robust process for converting HDPE-PCR into high-value waxes through pyrolysis and catalytic cracking. Leveraging over 20 years of experience, the process ensures high yields and tailored product properties, moving from lab-scale to pilot trials.
CERTECH presents an innovative solution for transforming HDPE post-consumer recycled (PCR) materials into high-value waxes using advanced pyrolysis and catalytic cracking techniques. This process takes advantage of over two decades of expertise to achieve controlled depolymerization, resulting in waxes with specific molecular weight, melting point, and rheological properties tailored to customer needs. By optimizing reaction conditions and catalyst selection, the process ensures high yields and minimal oxidation, making it commercially viable and environmentally friendly.
Key features:
This technology is at Technology Readiness Level 6, indicating that it has been tested in a relevant environment and is moving towards full-scale industrial application. The project will proceed with pilot trials to further validate scalability and optimize product properties for industrial use.
Certech is an independent Belgian applied research center and contract R&D partner with a multidisciplinary team of roughly 35 highly qualified employees. Based in Seneffe’s industrial zone, it gives companies access to analytical laboratories, pilot and semi-industrial equipment, and technical support for product and process development. Its customer-focused model combines contract research, testing, technology guidance, and scale-up support, helping firms move from laboratory validation toward industrial implementation; SMEs can also use regional innovation-support mechanisms. Founded at the initiative of UCLouvain, Certech maintains a formal research relationship with the university while operating independently and contracting directly with industry. Research and innovation are supported by the Walloon Region and European programs, including Horizon Europe and the European Regional Development Fund.
