A novel inorganic salt-based solution offering a non-selective, contact herbicide effect for vegetation control, effective against Glyphosate-resistant species and safe for spraying equipment. Seeking partners for further validation.

Overview

The Hebrew University of Jerusalem presents an innovative vegetation control solution that leverages a mixture of inorganic salts to provide a non-selective, contact herbicide effect. This advanced non-Glyphosate material, known as VC, works by penetrating plant stems, altering ion balances, and inducing dehydration. It effectively dries out plants and their roots, offering both immediate and persistent impacts on vegetation, preventing regrowth for extended periods depending on environmental conditions. The solution is particularly effective against Glyphosate-resistant species, presenting a viable alternative in agriculture and infrastructure maintenance.

Technical specifications
  • Composition: Solution of inorganic salts
  • Mode of Action: Penetrates plant stems, alters ion balance, and induces dehydration
  • Applications: Suitable for all types of plants, including Glyphosate-resistant species
  • Safety and Equipment Compatibility: Proven not to damage spraying equipment
  • Field Testing: Validated across diverse conditions in Latin America and the EU
  • Optimization: Studies completed for volume and concentration based on vegetation type and geography
Technology readiness level

Currently at Technology Readiness Level 6, this solution has been validated in relevant environments and is ready for further field testing. We seek partners with access to problem weed areas and spraying equipment to participate in a year-long validation study to refine application protocols under varying conditions.
