Biologically derived nanoparticles offer a sustainable approach to crop protection by enhancing fungicide efficacy and reducing environmental impact. These bionanoparticles improve adhesion and controlled release, aligning with sustainable agriculture trends.

Overview

Biologically derived nanoparticles, or bionanoparticles, present a revolutionary approach to sustainable pest control in agriculture. These nanoparticles are produced by microorganisms and exhibit antifungal and biostimulant activities, complementing conventional fungicides and biopesticides. By integrating with existing formulations, they enhance efficacy, reduce environmental impact, and align with sustainable agriculture trends. This technology offers a non-toxic solution that can improve crop protection while minimizing synthetic additive use.

Technical specifications

Bionanoparticles feature a unique biological coating that facilitates improved adhesion to plant surfaces, controlled release of active ingredients, and targeted action against pests. This reduces the need for additional synthetic additives and enhances the performance of existing agrochemical formulations. The nanoparticles are designed for compatibility with various application methods, including ultra-low volume (ULV) and drone-based delivery systems, optimizing their use in precision agriculture.

Technology readiness level

Currently at TRL 6, this technology is undergoing extensive validation. Initial formulation refinement will occur over six months to improve stability and efficacy. Large-scale field trials are planned to assess performance across diverse crops and conditions. Regulatory validation, including EPA registration, is targeted to ensure compliance. By transitioning from TRL 6, the technology is on a clear path towards commercialization and market readiness.
