Innovative microencapsulation technology stabilizes creatine in acidic beverages and semi-solid foods, reducing degradation while maintaining sensory quality. Utilizes GRAS carriers for scalable and industrial applications, offering stable, free-flowing powders.

Overview

Our innovative solution involves the development of a food-grade creatine delivery system using advanced microencapsulation techniques. This approach is designed to significantly enhance the stability of creatine in acidic beverages and semi-solid foods, thus maintaining its efficacy and shelf life. By employing generally recognized as safe (GRAS) polysaccharide, protein, and lipid carriers, we create a protective micro-environment that effectively reduces creatine degradation. The result is a technology capable of producing free-flowing powders and structured systems that disperse seamlessly in beverages without affecting their turbidity or flavor.

Technical specifications
  • Utilizes GRAS polysaccharide, protein, and lipid carriers to form a stable micro-environment around creatine.
  • Capable of producing free-flowing B2B powders or structured systems that integrate well into beverages.
  • Designed to maintain stability under typical heat treatments and acidic conditions.
  • Optimized for manufacturability using industrial processes such as mixing and spray drying.
  • Benchmarked against non-encapsulated creatine to demonstrate enhanced retention and stability.
Technology readiness level

The technology is currently at Technology Readiness Level 4, having been validated at the lab-scale with a clear path to pilot-scale validation. Future phases include scale-up, stability testing in model applications, and sensory impact assessments.
